Proposed by the Minister of Telecommunications, the Lebanon Cloud Data Center project was approved as a potential PPP project by the HCP, under the chairmanship of the President of the Council of Ministers, in February 2018. Such partnership entails that the winning private investor / operator builds, finances, operates, maintains and commercializes the data center infrastructure for a long term (~15 -20 years).
The objectives of the Lebanon Cloud Data Center are:
to promote the ICT sector
to improve business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities
to encourage foreign businesses to invest
to create employment
and ultimately, accelerate the overall economic development in Lebanon
In order to assess the feasibility of the project on a PPP basis, the HCP has retained the following advisory team:
KPMG France as lead transaction advisor.
Solon Management Consulting as technical / commercial advisor.
Dechert LLP / Abousleiman & Partners as legal advisors
The Project Steering Committee has been formed. It is chaired by Mr. Ziad Hayek, HCP Secretary General, and includes:
